Victoria base metal project (VIC)
Minotaur has four tenements across Victoria (granted and applications) over Cambrian volcanogenic sequences where the exploration target is polymetallic base metal mineralisation associated with mafic–felsic volcanic strata.
These volcanic provinces have similarities to the mineralised Mount Read Volcanic associations of western Tasmania (Hellyer, Que River, Rosebery, Mount Lyell Mines). The volcanic arc sequences are best preserved in western Victoria, though largely masked by younger cover. Known mineralisation associated with these sequences include the Ararat Copper Prospect (700,000 t @ 2.7% Cu, 0.8 g/t Au), Thursday Gossan Prospect (10.6 Mt @ 0.45% Cu), Junction Prospect (best intercept 35 m @ 3.9% Cu) and McRaes Prospect (best intercept 15 m @ 6.7% Cu, 18.8% Zn).
On the two granted tenements, a bedrock drill program is planned for early 2012 in proximity to significant airborne electromagnetic anomalies. Exploration is at a very early stage and considerable scope exists for discovery of major Cu-Pb-Zn massive sulphide mineralization.
